Kill Bill 2

Volume II out in a couple days in US!

Rotten Tomatoes gives it 100% FRESH rating! That’s very rare on RT as those reviews based on a broad range of critiques.

When does it open here? I loved Vol I so much, I just can’t WAIT for Vol II especially with such comments as:

“Here’s a movie that both academics bundled in film theories and teenagers on hot dates will find supercool.”
– Kirk Honeycutt, HOLLYWOOD REPORTER

“What Quentin Tarantino started with a wham he finishes with a bang in Kill Bill Vol. 2.”
– Todd McCarthy, VARIETY

“A beautiful, twisted, complex martial arts soap opera.”-- Richard Roeper, EBERT & ROEPER

“You’ll thrill to the action, savor the tasty dialogue and laugh like bloody hell.”
– Peter Travers, ROLLING STONE

Sounds like another over-hyped movie. Hope they don’t all speak Japanese all the time.

Set in the western US and goes back and forth in time, fleshing out the plot that people went away feeling miffed about in Vol I. We also see her ‘training’ for the Force, the wedding, learn her real name, and see a touching scene with the daughter she didn’t know had survived that Bill has raised.
Supposedly, David Carradine is absolutely magnificent in it. Bet he gets an Oscar nod next year. She contends with Budd, then Elle Driver, then Bill.

Honestly, though, Rotten Tomatoes does not hype. They compile critical reviews and rate the films this way. I always refer to RT for films, and typically they’re pretty spot on.
But then, I’m also a big Tarentino fan and I have NEVER been disappointed in his funky eccentric style of directing. EVER. Nor his choice of soundtrack material. Kill Bill Vol I soundtrack was the only CD I actually purchased for myself in the past year.

Tarantino is a hack. I gave Kill Bill 1 and 2 fair shots and both movies were very lacking and very repetitive. They just plain sucked. The plot had no pulse whatsoever. Just because you take something that’s been done before and polish it up a bit in a new or (supposedly) exciting way, doesn’t make you a genius or make your movie good. Strangely, many people are all over QT’s cajones for being this great director, when he’s anything but.

And I know how trendy it’s becoming in movie circles to bash the mainstays like Spielberg and praise “revolutionaries” like QT. Funny how these people pick on the massively successful ones, and leave “lesser known” or “less successful” directors alone, even though there are some godawful ones out there who have done horrendus movies.

Funny also how QT pumps up his movies. “Kill Bill - The 4th movie from QT.” What an arrogant SOB. :raspberry:

Just saw Kill Bill 2. Wasn’t impressed. Chick flick 100%. As a matter of fact I don’t like Pulp Fiction either.

Wait a minute…there was Reservoir Dogs, True Romance, Natural Born Killers, Pulp Fiction, Four Rooms, From Dusk Till Dawn, Jackie Brown…that wouldn’t make it his fourth movie, but like his seventh. Oh, I get it. The fourth movie he’s directed. Not written. Volume two looked interesting, but I guess I’d have to see volume 1 to understand it.

I thought both of them were entertaining, but it seems he’s just throwing all of his favorite martial arts films together.

That’s what hacks me off. you have to pay two times to see one movie. But it works I guess. Expect his next movie to be a trilogy. I’m not a martial arts movie fan or an Uma Thurwoman fan. So I don’t believe I will even rent it.

A chick kicks ASS flick!
 :notworthy:
Going to see it this evening.

My girlfriend was cracking up through the entire movie. She loves QT.

I wasted my money on the first one, but don’t expect me to be taken in again.

[Insert feminist empowerment rant here]

What a joke. Give me Carrie-Anne Moss and Jada Pinkett Smith in The Matrix sequels as ass kicking females anyday over Uma in KB. Both of their characters are true cinematic badasses. Uma’s is just an overblown and overdone poser. :smiling_imp:

IMO, of course! :sunglasses:

Saw it on Saturday and I was just a little pleased to see the 5,6,78s appear at the end.

Great flick. QT must have had great fun making those two movies as he doffed his cap to a wide slice of movie genres.

Top stuff.

HG

Agreed, HGC.
Brilliant work. I pissed myself!
I LOVED Bei Mei!
Gordon Liu much more amusing in this role than in Volume 1 as Johnny Mo.

Gogo is my second favourite from Volume 1.

Anyone who doesn’t enjoy this film is:
Lacking in humour.
Lacking in cinemagraphic aesthetics.
Unappreciative of dark comedic genius.
Clearly not familiar with the genres, history and styles QT is drawing from.
Not the sharpest tool in the shed…

And most of all: a big fat sexist

Having said that, I did find Vol 1 more entertaining bloodbath-wise, but Vol 2 has more surprises, plot building and foreshadowing elements.

I love what she does to Elle!

Please NO SPOILERS ON THIS THREAD. Let them see for themselves!

People with inferiority complexes over a stinkin’ movie piss me off like no tomorrow. Please get over yourself. At least I have the decency to refrain from ripping apart people who dog the Matrix sequels. Tolerance and acceptance of opinions, learn it some time. Just because people didn’t like it doesn’t mean they don’t understand or aren’t smart enough to comprehend bullshit category A, B, or C, or make them a quote unquote “sexist.” You probably don’t have a clue about the so-called “intellectuals” who defend the Matrix sequels to death and would call someone like you a feminist [insert expletive here]. I find them to be just as full of shit as you seem to be concerning KB.

Sexist. Hah. I laugh at your attempt at making ME (or anyone else for that matter) look bad. Since you’re obviously drawing conclusions from opinions voiced on a message board no less, then to you good madame I say this: you are full of it.

Is there Japanese dialogue? If so, are there english subtitles? I am talking about the taiwan release.

There’s Cantonese dialogue, but it’s done with Chinese/English subtitles that are the exact same style that you see in most Hong Kong movies.

Except for the fact that the English is correct!

No need to see the Volume 1. They are not so connected. 2nd one pretty much summarize what happened at the 1st. A little different taste from recently made junk Hollywood movies.

The fact that you put so much emphasis on what critics have to say speaks volumes.
