Note that the persons covered under mandate agreements need to have real decision- making authority over the Taiwan entity and not merely be holding the position for the convenience of the company in order for them not to be considered “employees” under the law.

It works in theory, but I can think of a major insurance company (and thousands of its brokers) who would argue the judiciary on this beautiful island has a record of schizophrenia when it comes to the discernment of employment/labor relationships.

Anyway, thanks for the articles. Very useful. :+1:

Glad you found them helpful! : )
We’ll be continuing to expand our service and media network, and updating Crossroads with even more useful information and features for both the expat and local communities of Taiwan. Please look forward to this.

Useful links, thanks.
In practice as we see with various posts here over the years, a complaint will just get you fired with no support. Which is why the locals here just suck up the abuse.

A senior high school student told me that his school is a government school and they are mandated to allow summer breaks but the kids are back now for full days because the school said so and nobody complains.
The school is government run and even they don’t give a fig about the regulations.
