Hi,
Where in Taipei can I go to buy some large size men’s clothing? In Canada, we have a chain of stores called “Big and Tall” Men’s clothing (or something like that) - is there such places in Taipei? If so, can you provide me with an address?
Barring that, has anyone ordered clothes online for international shipping to Taipei? Can you provide a web site?

We have “Big & Tall” stores in the US, too. They used to be called “Casual Male: Big & Tall.” But, for some reason they’ve changed to “Big & Tall: Casual Male,” or some such… but, I digress.
There is no big & tall type store in Taiwan, as far as I know. If you go to Tianmu here in Taipei, you can find some stores with large sizes. I don’t know about other cities in Taiwan. Be forewarned, though, that sometimes they are sized differently than in the US (and I’m assuming Canada). I went to one store and asked for the largest size in jeans they had. They came out with what was labled a 4x pair of jeans (I usually take about a size 42), and they didn’t fit me. :raspberry:
Also, I’ve noticed most of the big sizes are in brands you’ve probably never heard of… Which can be ok, except for the brand names – Big Train and such. With my favorite being “Sea Cow.” As if I don’t feel big enough in Taiwan… However, I can just see that commercial…
A “husky” guy walks out in nothing but jeans and his wife/gf/bf/lover looks into the camera and says, “I just love my man in his ‘Sea Cow’ jeans.”
There are two or three shops selling clothing for larger guys on a lane off of He-ping E. Road.
They’re good places to look for jeans, shorts, slacks, t-shirts, and dress shirts.
The lane is parallel to and just west of Hsin-sheng S. Road, south of He-ping E. Road. The first of the shops is only 20 meters in from He-ping on the west side of the lane. The other two are just across the way and a little farther down.
By the way, this lane is the one with the German restaurant on it, Schwarzewald (sp?)
Walking along Nan-jing E. Road a few weeks ago I also saw a shop with an English name, it escapes me now, that specialized in clothing for big and tall men (don’t know if they carry the infamous Sea Cow brand, but you could ask).
The clothing was more expensive than the other shops I mentioned, and the selection was not as wide, but they carried slacks and sport coats.
If I remember correctly it was on the north side of Nan-jing between Chien-kuo N. Road and Lung-jiang.
Finally, a tailor is always a good choice. Get exactly the fabric and style that you want.
Don’t bother looking for clothes here. Even if you find something that fits it will be so gawdamn ugly you’d never want to wear it. When I need clothes I got shopping on Amazon - they have big and tall clothes from many familiar brands. I have them shippped to my friends in the states because they don’t ship internationally and then I have my friends either bring it them back with them when they come to Taiwan or have them send it through the mail. So far it’s been the best method for getting clothes here.
There is an outsize clothing store on Minquan West Road opposite the MRT (subway) station, and another one in the Fuzhong area of Banqiao. I will edit this post with the full address when I have it.
Have a look at some of the answers in this other thread on larger underwear, as they might be relevant. Check out the Pants King on the corner of Nanjing and Longjiang Rd too.
In Banqiao on the corner of Shijian and Quanqian Roads (diagonally opposite the Jieshou Park). It’s not far from Banqiao Station or Fuzhong MRT Station. This might be the one Juba is referring to.
Good large size shop for men and women on Aiguo. I don’t recall the cross street but its on the corner nearest the LDS (Mormon) Temple. Alot of ugly stuff too but they seem to have a few nice items also. Every fall, they get a really nice selection of 2X-5X sweaters. Also a large selection of Docker style pants in REAL MAN sizes. They also have some large size shoes too.The Pants Kingdom stores mention earlier are damned pricey. I wanted a dress shirt and stopped by to see. 4000NT for shirt? Come on.
BTW, I get my shirts handmade in 3X - 3 for 5,000 - in Banciao.
I’m huge and I need huge clothes. Think 60 inch waistline. I’m wanting a few pairs of denim overalls or otherwise called dungarees by you Brits out there. Anybody know where I can get me some on this here island? Mighty obliged if anyone can tell me.
You probably want to get those tailor-made; it’s not that expensive here, and they’ll fit better. You could price it, then compare that to mail order from abroad if you like.
But for off-the-shelf stuff, you could try the places that generally specialize in bigger sizes.
Check out Pants Kingdom in particular (what Igorveni above refers to as the big birds shop). Not sure if they have overalls, but they do carry large pants, including jeans.

Try a search on here for “big and tall”. The pants kigdom places are damned expensive but there are a couple of reasonably priced retail outlets that carry us fat boy sizes. One is at the corner of Aiguo and Chinshan???. The previous thread has the address and correct spelling. It’s across from the big post office on Aiguo near the Mormon Temple.
A previous poster suggested tailoring. I also concur. I have had some really nice shirts made that fit well and were much cheaper than off the shelf at Pants Kingdom.
i’ve checked through the forums and tried the stores from the really old post
and i’d like to know if anyone has found any stores that sell sizes ranging from
4XL-8XL men’s sizes and also winter clothes for big men.
especially for a thick gloves for the cold.
i know of one store which is on jinshan road right before the gas station.
That one is your best best cost/vs quality. I usually have to get some supplemental tailoring done at a seamstreass shop but it’s cheap and the clothes fit well.
Second more expensive option is find a taylor and have some wool trou and shirts made. They are around. If you cant find one, PM me. Big parka style coat has alwas been a problem as have thermals.
Hello! Having found a job (Yay!) I now need to get some more clothing. I did a search on the forum and the closest I got was to a hilarious “Giant Underwear Song”.
I live in Taoyuan but am not against making a trip to Taipei if I need to. I’m a pretty big guy and have been wearing 3XL clothing in the USA… Which is like 9023XL clothing in Taipei it seems.
