I loved LatinoHeat’s post. It was so full of the raving cliches it could have been a spoof of a puff. “Now that’s service” etc.
Most of the other comments here have been positive, mine was the most negative post recently. I wonder of someone can go back and in particular try the pizzas again. I don’t think it needs to be rocket science. Had some very nice pizzas in Saigon this week, all in unpretentious places at reasonable prices. Think i’ll give Le Rouge another go when I get back if nobody else has posted negatively in the meantime.
Anyway I returned last week to do the honours and had a couple of nice pizzas (one was a “pop eye” - spinach and olives, the other one, I forget now…). Nice starters too. All was great - not too much cheese on the pizzas as I mentioned before. Service was really friendly too and the restaurant light and airy - again, as before.
I hope they’re getting enough business to get by. Its been a bit quiet when I’ve been there. They are right by Xinpu MRT Exit 1 (as given by Dark Horse at the front of this thread). No annoying roads to cross… its really so easy to get to once you’re on the MRT.
I have not been there for a while but just before leaving for summer vacation I took a student there who said he really wasn’t hungry that day and once the pizza arrived he wolfed down half of it and took home what we didn’t finish for a snack. He also made a reservation on the spot to bring his girlfriend back the following weekend so I would say that is a pretty good endorsement.

Before I left their dinner business seemed to be growing pretty well according to the staff. They are in a pretty good location. I will be back after summer vacation which is slowly winding down.
OK. So far, most here have reported on the brunches and pizzas they’ve had and enjoyed to various degrees.
Has anybody here tried their pasta yet? I would be very much interested in that. What do people say about LeRouge’s pasta?
One good thing I can say for them is that they have whole wheat pasta which I tried once and was good. When they first opened I tried the regular pasta which I didn’t like that much but I think it is from having switched to whole wheat pasta. All white pasta how tastes bland and soggy to me. I would say if you like your pasta firmer and more cooked just specify when you order.
:s Hmm, yeah, seems so.
I also thought that it’s a bit meager, that they might be working on it a little later. But not yet, huh? For example, put the menu there, that would be really helpful. Or a couple more links…
Really disappointing experience here recently. My friends and I waited nearly an hour-and-a-half for our order to arrive (What is it about foreign-run restaurants in Banqiao?) When the food finally came–well, not all, just one person’s pasta dish–the waitress took it away because she had brought it to the wrong table. We canceled our order, paid for the drinks we had had, and one of the chefs (??, owners?) came up to me and said if I would have waited just 30 seconds, he wouldn’t have had to give my pizza to some other table (say what?), and why didn’t I come down and tell him I hadn’t gotten my order (we had told the waitresses twice, and by the way–he should come to me, not the other way around). This caused one of my Taiwanese friends to go near ape shit and make a bit of a scene, and frankly, I don’t think any level-headed person would blame him.
I went to Alleycats tonight and they had a pizza in front of me in less than 15 minutes, despite a nearly full house. I understand the day following a typhoon and the pressure of more customers during lover’s day might throw things off a bit, but this was the pits. Never again.
Wow, that sucks to hear.
I’ve eaten there a few times, and enjoyed it.
The food was good and I always found the staff to be attentive and friendly.
It’s too bad you didn’t get the same experience.
I know you say you don’t be back, but it’s worth another shot.
I would like to thank you all whom came to Le Rouge last Sunday to celebrate Chinese Valentine day.
Unfortunatly, due to an unexpected extremely high volume of costumers, we weren’t able to provide the prompt service we usually do.
After this expereicence, we learned that it is better to refuse acces to costumers than let people in and offer a mediocre service
Once again Le Rouge thank you for your patience and understanding
The food was good and I always found the staff to be attentive and friendly.
Signed. I was there tonight, and while the pizza’s not the best I’ve had, it’s a damn sight better than Pizza Hut and Dominos. The staff were friendly, I got my pizza in about 20 minutes, and the lychee beer was surprisingly good. I’ll most likely be back every now and then, although it’s a fair hike from my place, meaning it won’t be that often.
sorry for not setting up the website yet…I will do that very soon. A Chinese website came interview our restaurant. Here is the link. There are a lot of photos of the food and the restaurant.
I knew Le Rouge was sponsoring a pool party today so I figured they might be a bit busy today.
So I gave them a call to make sure I could still get Sunday Brunch there.
I can’t.
They’re not doing it today.
Sucks.
Glad I phoned before I trekked all the way over there, but I’m sure others ended up disappointed.
I paid a long overdue visit to Le Rouge for dinner this past week and confirmed the complaint post last week was fiction. What a dolt to post something so easily refutable. I don’t think I’ll be buying any hot dogs in Hsimending.
Another nice pizza was prepared for my by the kitchen crew and my colleague had the salmon pasta which he said was very good. First time I’ve been able to sample their wine as I have only been there for lunch before. Their house red is quite drinkable. Shared a glass with Chef Francis who joined us for a while after the kitchen calmed down and we had a nice chat. Their business seems to be doing well and they just celebrated six months being open. They added a few things to the menu too, meatballs being one, and a couple of others I forget at the moment. Just wish I could get there more often but it sure is nice having pizza and pasta this good right in Banqiao.
I’ve been there a few times and have always enjoyed it. I like the pizza and the pasta. The place is roomy and bright and the lady at the counter is very friendly and helpful. And it’s not very expensive either.
My first visit to Le Rouge was superb. So good in fact that I will stop lurking in the shadows and actually start posting about all the great eateries around Taipei. The wife and I had a great meal at a very reasonable price.Entree, pasta and the best pizza I have had in ages for $88o.We will be back!!
Popped into Le Rouge this past week with a couple of hungry students for another very good dinner. We got the pizza & pasta combo special with appetizers and drinks. They were only too happy to do a half and half pizza as one member of the group was vegetarian and us carnivores wanted meat. Very good pizza as always, the students said the pasta was tasty, we all had some of the nice salad and a very good plate of bruschetta.
Francis, the friendly chef & owner, stopped at our table for a visit and during our chat he mentioned that they celebrated their one year anniversary this month. Most small businesses do not survive their first year so congratulations are due to Francis, Crystal and their great crew. Happy first anniversary and here’s to many more! You are obviously doing things right.
