Leatherworker in Taipei

After browsing hundreds of sling leather bags on the internet, and not finding one that fits my needs exactly, I’ve thought about trying to find a leatherworker in Taipei and asking him for a quotation to make me my perfect bag. Sized to fit, with a wide, padded strap that doesn’t dig into my shoulder and has a front phone pocket, an internal sleeve to fit a tablet, and some heavy duty YKK zippers. It should have a detachable side-strap that would go from the third corner of the triangle to the front of the main strap, in case I want a tighter fit.

If I can’t find someone that can do that with leather, or if the quotation is too expensive, I’d be willing to settle for some heavy-duty canvas, with the same design.

There’s one, maybe two, leather places in that little market next to Yuanshan stadium. They have large pieces of leather plus all the tools, as well as finished products, so I presume they do custom orders.

There’s also a leather-working stall at Maji Square, Zhongshan Rd., diagonally south from the fine arts museum.
