Let's have some fun!

Have you ever wondered if your mind is normal? Well, do this little mind exercise and find out ---- Free will or synaptic wiring? You be the judge.
Check out the following exercise, guaranteed to raise an eyebrow. There’s no trick or surprise. Just follow these instructions, and answer the questions one at a time and as quickly as you can. Again, as quickly as you can but don’t advance until you’ve done each of them…really.

Now, scroll down (but not too fast, you might miss something)…

What is:

1+5

2+4

3+3

4+2

5+1

Now repeat saying the number 6 to yourself as fast as you can for 15 seconds. Then scroll down.

QUICK! THINK OF A VEGETABLE! Then arrow down.

Keep going.

You’re thinking of a carrot, right?

Nope…brocolli.

Sorry, but what does that mean?

It means you cheated
or
You have braindamage

[quote=“Steeevieboy”]It means you cheated

Cheat? Moi? I think it’s most probably the latter.

I thought of potatoes, but then, I also got the fourth question wrong.

That’s just the Irish in you. (On both [mis]counts)

Cucumber. A big warty one. What do I win?

(Really, that was my first thought)

((Really, what do I win))

Rob.

I know of a better trick, one that had my 4th graders last year going “Hey! How did you know?” The problem is that since I have them again this year (which I am glad to have them again), I have to wait until next year for a new crop of students to try this on…

In the meanwhile, I’ll share it with you all. I’m a lazy bastard and googled the text rather than trying to remember it all and type it from scratch:

Let’s start. Start scrolling down now…

THERE ARE NO GRAY ELEPHANTS IN DENMARK!!!

I tweaked it a little bit, since, after all these were ESL elementary school students who probably didn’t know Denmark, but I had the convenience of having a student named Dennis to substitute the question as “Think of a boy’s name that begins with that letter.” Having them do it on the whiteboard together while I faced the back wall, it was inevitable that they would choose the name of one of their classmates. As they started to write down the color, I said, “And by the way, Dennis does not have any gray elephants.” They were absolutely floored. :smiling_imp:

Later, I had them work out the math for why it worked.

Actually I got Denmark (kinda… 4.5 isn’t 4), and a brown emu, so YOU LOSE HAHAHAHAH although that might be because I’m drunk.

Steps in order:

x

x*2=2x

2x+8 Factoring out the 2 it becomes 2(x+4)

2(x+4)/2=x+4

x+4-x=4

4=D

Denmark is the most well-known country that starts with D. Most people wouldn’t say Dominica, the Dominican Republic, or, for that matter, Djibouti.

I’m drinking too, Balvenie '89, and I got a brown emu from Denmark. What are you drinking?

42 Below vodka and V energy drink.

I got carrot for the first one.

I then remembered doing that test on people about ten years ago, and most said carrot.

So is there enough empirical evidence here to show it is not the variant of alcohol that would lead one to a brown emu? I think not. Let’s try again. I will attempt with Awamori (Okinawan sake that some say is much like Everclear, but my cousins say this is a particulary good bottle from a special distillery or brewery).

Later,
Rob.
