Are you talking about the yellow triangle?
The triangle is designed to give way, something to hit in time before a catastrophic pinch event can occur. Like the dangly balls you get on height restrictions going into drive-through’s or what-have-you.
The real issue here is that the escalator is at a too extreme slope, look at the stairs in comparison. The destination is the same, but the escalator should either be less steep and longer, or set further forward.
