BANG Events is a locally-based, international company that has produced a life skills play for all Junior High students across Taiwan. The show, “Live Your Best Life!” is a 30-minute intervention play that deals with the following core issues:
- cyber bullying
- academic cheating
*difficult family situations - integrity in relationships (dating safety)
The 30-minute show is filled comedy and humor within which, deeper issues are set. It is followed by a 30-minute discussion where our trained facilitators guide the students into expressing their feelings and brainstorming a range of solutions to issues they are challenged with. Thereafter, if any students need personal counseling, we can refer them to our support network. BANG is working with The Community Services Centre, Grace Counseling and all Child Protection offices across Taipei City.
Added to that, all guidance teachers get a folder with 3 follow-up lesson plans, based on the core themes in the play. Parents get USB resource package that is filled with advice on how to positively engage their children when faced with issues. It also has the list of contactable agencies that can support them through difficult periods. Students get their own tool-kit, filled with advice and tips and even the “Live Your Best Life!” theme song. The theme song will be created and produced by LEO37, an artist of incredible talent who believes that hip/hop and rap can be used as educational tools that have high reaching potential than the classroom context.
This show empowers students. It hands back responsibility to them to be active participants in society. We at BANG, don’t provide solutions. We’re merely light a fire and hand the torch over the the students. Support this show.
This show will be running from the Fall semester (September, 2011) to the end of the school year (June, 2012) in all schools across the city. This show can be viewed by grades 7 - 10. We perform for audiences ranging from 20 to 200. The show is designed to fit into a guidance period so it doesn’t disrupt the students’ academic schedule. For English bookings, call 0975 021 931.
