Life time warranties. Your thoughts!

What is a life time warranty? If a product breaks it’s life is over and so is the warranty. Logical or not?

Perhaps in this instance “lifetime” may be in reference to the duration of the owner’s life and not that of the product…

I don’t think that let’s say a backpack has a longer lifespan then I.

Doesn’t it usually mean “expected lifetime of the product”?

But for me when I’m shopping a lifetime warranty means nothing - the label may as well say “Good product!” Two years of repairs or whatever, OK, that means something.

I can think of only one lifetime warranty that I trust, for merino-wool socks made in Vermont. Brand name is Darn Tough. Their warranty is “unconditionally guaranteed for life.”

I had a pair of their dressier socks that frankly I abused by pulling on them on early in the morning when I was in a hurry to dress. I managed to pull them apart just above the heel. I was kind of surprised that Darn Tough honored the warranty, but they did. Very impressive.
