This is really annoying and I can’t seem to get it right. I have a typical Taiwanese bedroom desk with the retractile keyboard draw. One of those Special Philips anit-glare desk lamps of about 15 Watts and a 23 inch monitor. I basically do “copy” work (literally) by putting the text to be copied on the desk in front of me or in one of those book stands you see the kids using at McDonald’s. I work at night while other people are sleeping so I can’t put the over head light on.
The trouble is I can’t seem to find the best angle for my lamp with out creating an annoying light field that interferes with me seeing my monitor. Even if I put the lamp over in front of my monitor, the head above the level of my monitor, with the light directed down on to my work, there seems to be a brightness or glow that is interfering with me seeing the screen well.
Secondary annoying problem keyboard lighting: My touch typing is not so good in Chinese. I still have to look at the keyboard. I’m thinking of getting one of those cheap stick on LCD lights to place under the desk above the keyboard drawer.
OK… guys this is really low tech… but I can’t be the only one who has to do some work at night. I am annoyed and not as productive as I’d like to be in my only free and quiet time available to me. Thanks.
