Not so. There’s a Thai nightclub (frequented by lots of different Southeast Asians) pretty much opposite Starbucks near the train station. There’s also another one. You go down Zhong Zheng Road (a few hundred metres) to where there’s a small pedestrian mall on the right hand side and a road that turns left. You walk down that pedestrian mall to the end. It’s on the right corner. In that whole vicinity there are quite a few Pinoy karaoke bars also. There’s also a big Southeast Asian restaurant scene behind the train station. In my mind, the Southeast Asian scene in Taoyuan is perhaps the only thing the city has going for it, though the clubs are basically only open from Saturday evening until Sunday afternoon (because the Southeast Asian workers have to work the rest of the week).
