Holidays and Wednesdays can be slow. So after a lazy day of sitting around, I finally decided to get up and head to Taichung with a friend for dinner. We decided on
Lola’s Bar and Grille
352, FuShun Road
FANTASTIC burger. One of the best I have had in years…if not ever.
Eve, the lady behind the bar, was really friendly. I could not have asked for better service.
Overall, I highly recommend it. There is one thing that will keep me from being a regular there. They have a cat and I’m allergic. After about an hour, my eyes started burning and it was time to go. But I left on a full stomache and figured it would be worth it to make another trip back. Just have to watch myself and bring Benedryl.
I read about their burgers and went to try it, but I can’t eat in a smoke-filled bar. The air was thick with cigarette and cigar smoke and there was no place to sit where there was clear air. So I didn’t get to try out their burgers. I suggest a non-smoking area.
It’s still there, but you’ll need to recognize the Chinese name. I forget it at the moment. You can only make out the English name “Lola’s Bar and Grille” on the awning, probably only during the day.
Burger was OK. Nothing special, to be quite honest. Nice atmosphere, but could use better music. Friendly service, good selection of beer, so-so burgers.
