Long John Silver's in Taipei

They’re putting up a Long John Silver’s right around the corner from my office, next to the KFC at the corner of Fuxing and Nanjing. I’ve never eaten there. Is it any good?

Are you quite sure you’ve never eaten there? What was the name of the place where the Tavern Premier now stands? Wasn’t that a Long John Silvers? Whatever it was, it was fairly disgustering and bit the dust after only a short time.

In the USA, Long John Silver’s is the McDonalds of seafood restaurants.

Couldn’t have said it better. It’s where you take your “Steak and Scrimp” (shrimp pronounced Ebonics style) date…

I was beginning to get worried that I wouldn’t be able to find any deep-fried crap in Taiwan.

HUSH PUPPIES AND TABASCO!!
HUSH PUPPIES AND LOUISIANA CHEF!!

HUSH PUPPIES!!!

I’m gonna be a fattass soon. They might have nasty hush puppies. But a nasty hush puppy is better than no hush puppy.

The one time I ate there (at one in the US) I got food poisoning, so Id imagine you could guess what my opinion of it is. :wink:

Definitely not the Fryingscotsman place… but better than nothing I guess.

Frying Scotsman RIP :frowning:

What is a hush puppy? In Australia thats a term for a type of shoe :slight_smile:

:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:

I never really ate there too often when I was back home, but I am sure to visit it a couple of times just a taste of something familar… Plus the hushpuppies…

Yeah. Nothing but the hushpuppies for me.

Anyone know when it opens?
Maoman, how far are they into construction?

Whatever happened to the Frying Scotsman?

The same thing that happened to dinosaurs, dodo birds and Seinfeld.

HUSH PUPPIES
These delectable little balls of fried seasoned cornbread are incredibly addictive.
Be careful; it’s easy to fill up on these!

    * 2 cups yellow corn meal
    * 2 tablespoons flour
    * 2 teaspoons baking powder
    * 1 tablespoon sugar
    * 2 teaspoons salt
    * 1/4 cup finely chopped onions
    * Freshly ground black pepper to taste
    * Boiling water
    * 1 egg, beaten
    * 1/4 cup milk
    * Oil for frying

Heat oil in deep skillet or fryer to 375°F.

Mix all dry ingredients except the baking powder. Pour in enough hot water to make a thick mush, making sure all ingredients are moistened. Add milk, egg and baking powder and mix thoroughly.

Drop by spoonfuls (or use a small ice cream scoop) into oil, and fry until golden brown.

Marvelous with fish or shellfish. Fried catfish and hush puppies are a particularly classic combination.

Them’s good eatin’!!

Woah I just put on a few pounds looking at that picture :blush:

They look great :wink:
