Looking for a Finacial/ Trading Advisor

Hi–

I’m new to the stock market investing, but I am pretty good with numbers. However, I don’t want to jump in unprepared or just by reading a few investment books. I am looking for someone who is skilled in trading/ finances and is willing to be a coach as I start down this road. This is a serious inquiry, so if you are serious too, please reply. Thanks so much for your time. Please send a PM if you are interested or know of a good advisor.

Well,I am interested ,too.
Can I know if you have this information?
Thanks. :notworthy:

I can’t imagine someone with serious stock investing skill that would A. Take the time to read this post on this forum AND B. Decide to contact you via PM so they can help you master the art of stock purchasing. Though I suppose it can’t hurt to try.

With that out of the way, if your serious about stock investing I (and many people more knowledgeable than myself) would recommend getting your hands on these 2 books.

[Intelligent Investor] and [Common Stocks and Uncommon Profits]

The thing is, just reading about the stock market won’t be enough to make some money. You’ll need money to invest in it. If you have some already and don’t have a problem saving money, great, if you need some help in that department, I’d like to recommend [Your Money Or Your Life]. This book has literally worked wonders for myself (put bluntly I wasn’t wery good with money before reading it, now I am.)

Well,I planed to have some financial and economic classes.
Where I live I think Taichung and xinchu will be ok for me.
But Those classes are more convenient in Taipei.

I did have some books about the stock market.
But I can’t work out some questions by myself. :unamused:

Why not ask them here? Maybe both you and I will learn something from them.

I am learning how to express my questions exactly in English.
I am new in stock market and I am slow.
For now,I worry when I bring up my questions people will think it is silly.
Actually,I don’t really invest my money in stock market,I buy the ETF instead.
But I am interested in stock market and mutual funds.

Thanks for telling us those books.

I googled them quickly.
I am interested in them.
But I don’t know if I can buy the Chinese edition.

In general a good way to find Chinese editions of Western books:

  1. Go to books.com.tw/
  2. Search on the name of the book
  3. Find out the author and then search on the author name (the author will usually be listed in English even for the Chinese editions)
  4. Look at the icon of the cover. Usually it will have the title in both Chinese and English so you can see if it is the same.

For example, here is the Chinese edition of Intelligent Investor which miltownkid suggested:

books.com.tw/exep/prod/books … 0010056060

You mentioned before you were interested in learning about economics too. I highly recommend ‘Basic Economics’ by Thomas Sowell. There is a Chinese version available:

books.com.tw/exep/prod/books … 0010367828

(For the others here, Basic Economics is also available at Page One and some branches of Eslite. Make sure you get the new Third Edition with the white cover.)

Thanks Jlick!
I really appreciate those informations, especially the economic book.

Read a book called ‘Security Analysis’ by Benjamin Graham.

Read the Motley Fool books. Very good for beginners.

Thanks JD for this information. :notworthy:
I have added their web as my favorite.

And I have ordered those books that you all suggested.
Thanks again.

Can I ask?
Should I read the books about Warren Buffet?

I wouldn’t. Totally different game.

The thing to know about Buffet is that he likes small family run companies to buy. If you find small companies like GTY or ALD, you get a family business, small staff, great returns and sweet dividends.
