Organisations that require TEFL certification wonāt be offering someone without a degree work. However, off the top of my head Shane and The British Council require it.
I know a student who went to work for a big chain, hasnāt finished his degree yet. They required a training program that they delivered (no pay, but free). I think he makes minimum wage, Taiwanese guy.
For run of the mill cram schools, I suspect they see it as a bonus but not very important. Some of thosr certificates arenāt very useful

My understanding based on the results I see is there is a lot of grammar and vocabulary training for closed-end test questions. Teacher talks and students listen. Very test oriented and teacher centered.
