As the title states, I’m Looking to buy a couple of packets of ‘All Purpose’ or ‘General Purpose’ Wine Yeast.
I have a very simple recipe for juice wine that I’d like to try.
Happy to send the recipe, its in a pdf file, if you’d like it.
If someone knows where this yeast is and can pick-up a couple of packets and mail them to me of course I’d pay for them. Just let me know the price + mailing.

yeast for fermenting alcohol and for bread is exactly the same species, so you can just use baker’s yeast if you’re really stuck.
of course, different yeasts have been bred to work more or less effectively and with slightly different speeds, flavour profile, etc for the different jobs. Some breweries even have their own specific strains of yeast that make their own particular brew that date back 500 years or so. they also have mixtures that contain various wild strains of yeast that do best in their brewery. often these live also on the walls, roof, etc of the brewery and continually infect any grain brought in for fermentation. Such is particularly the case for various sake houses in Japan.
but essentially it’s all brewer’s yeast, Saccharomyces cerevisiae.
No, wine yeast is a different type of yeast.
This recipe discusses the difference and specifically calls for general or all purpose wine yeast.
Bread yeast will start the fermentation but it has a low tolerance for alcohol and will not complete the job. This will leave the wine much too sweet.
I was a home beer brewer for 10 years or so prior to coming here and I learned a bit about the different types of yeasts and their nuances.
This will be my first time at wine making and I’d like to follow the directions of the author.

Not if you want to do it right. The different flavour profiles, alcoholo tolerances, etc. are really quite important to the finished product when making beer or wine.
They may all be the same species, but so are dogs, and you don’t put a chihuahua on the race track next to a greyhound.
Why not? Sounds like light entertainment.

Those are different groups of strains for brewing, not different species. But even between those two groups, you’ll get noticeably different results when brewing.
Hey TC, I once asked Nina at the Winemaker Shop in Columbus if she’d ship brewing supplies to Taiwan and she said sure, so if for any reason the local sourcing attempts don’t work out, you’ve still got your old suppliers back home as a resource. Good luck, and have fun!

This mead recipe recommended Fleishmann’s (with Narbonne Yeast (Lalvin 71B-1122), Lalvin D-47, or Montpelier Lalvin (K1V-1116) as alternatives)

Srsly, just order it off the internets. I was thinking of starting a brew now that the weather’s cooler (I’m sure one of those 5l water bottles with an airlock stuffed in the top would do the job nicely). A random search threw up this company:
