One of my best co-teachers showed me an intstrument that is really used for for writing music notes on the green board. We started using it for writing games because it makes it much easier for the students to write upper and lower case letters. I’ve been trying to get one for myself, but I haven’t been able to get one. Any advice?

It’s called a “blackboard staff liner” or “whiteboard staff liner”. They were common in schools when I went to school in the US (erm…um…awhile back).

This one holds chalk:

This one holds dry-erase markers:

They are also available on Amazon.com (I’m pretty sure they will ship to Taiwan) and the weight is so little that maybe, just maybe, the shipping wouldn’t kill you. LINEMASTER WHITEBOARD STAFF LINER is the magic phrase.

Good luck. Definitely a handy thing to have.

I have seen these in Taipei too, try the Smile Kids Bookstore in Shida, taiwan-taipei.com/taipei_cit … store.html if they don’t have it the owner should know as she sells all kinds of things to schools.

There is also a stationary store kiddy corner to the Tavern that has alot of things, so they may have it too.

Or a bit of scrap wood or plastic with some holes drilled in it.

Exactly what I would like to do. If I could only get my hands on a drill. I thave already made one with twop pieces of plank, a file and some rubber bands. It works, but it looks a little primative.

Thanks to everybody for your advice so far. I am still open to more suggestions until next Saturday when I’ll go to Taipei to buy it at Smile.

Print out the picture, take a couple of markers and a scrap of wood, and go down to your local “I’ve got a lot of tools” guy. I’d be surprised if he wouldn’t fix you up with a couple of appropriately-sized holes.
