I think it refers to your Nationality . Unfairly , you can’t have dual nationality in spite of the fact that Taiwanese nationals enjoy that right in some countries so if they find out you have another passport , they can cancel your Taiwanese passport … and rights to stay … I presume ?but it would surely , only apply to a very few .@tando ?
it is applied to people who once renounced the roc nationality.
Nationals of roc cannot have APRC. If they want to reside permanently, they should get the ROC citizenship.
People should know that the police just don’t play around with this DUI business. If you get caught (and especially if you hurt someone) you can get in big trouble. I had a friend get caught not long ago and it was a major headache. The only thing that saved him was the fact that there were witnesses to the “accident.”
I am torn on the matter. I believe in second chances after something like a DUI (as long as it’s one and not multiple). On the other hand, it has high potential for maiming and killing others. What separates a victimless DUI from a deadly one that destroys an innocent life? Usually luck.
So if you give up your nationality to become Taiwanese you could still get deported if not a citizen? But if you are not a national of any other country wouldn’t the country they deported you to just send you back to Taiwan?
If you have a Taiwanese passport can you reside in another country for a few years but stay Taiwanese ?
Yeah it’s confusing as I thought they were giving out special honorary citennships to certain favored people. I wonder how that plays out if you stay abroad longer than one year. Maybe it is stripped
Like the other thread with the American “lawyer” being “brutally attacked” in Wanhua, I smell the whiff of wumao-concocted BS on this thread too. Four hundred foreigners losing their visas a year to drunk driving? People would be up in arms if four people lost their visas to drunk driving. And if an APRC-holder were to really commit any crime that would require a sentence of more than a year, it would have been plastered all over the local media when it happened.
at least 56 foreigners in Tainan lost their visas due to drunk driving in 2017 and 27 in the first four months in 2018, so, 400 in Taiwan might be possible.
