I got an account at Bank of Taiwan. There I got three numbers, of which I have one left, the 4 number one. For some reason my phone didn’t save the other ones. I don’t even know what this 4 number one is for, it’s not for situations like this, is it? Something to use to recover the other two. If anyone knew, then that’d be great. I’m not comfortable enough with Chinese to simply go back and talk with them, I’d prefer not having to do that.
Are you talking about Personal Identification Numbers (PIN)? I have an account at Bank of Taiwan, and I believe I have three PINs as well:
[ul][li]The first PIN is the one I use at ATMs in Taiwan. [/li]
[li]The second PIN is a four-digit one that they make me use for in-branch withdrawals, like when transferring funds to the U.S. Perhaps this is the number you’re thinking of?[/li]
[li]I think I also have a third PIN, for use at ATMs outside of Taiwan (but I don’t remember it at all)[/li][/ul]
I’m not sure of the procedure for a forgotten PIN, but I’m guessing you’ll need to go into the branch to take care of it. Patience and a pitiful foreigner face should get results
Yes, for a lost PIN you need to go in and produce ID.
I’m not sure what the correct word for “PIN” is in Chinese, but you could try 我忘記了我的密碼 (use Google translate to read it out to you).
Failing that, the TWTC branch of BoT had English-speaking staff last time I was there. I’m sure, if you ask, there will be someone who will understand “I forgot my PIN” in most branches.
