Can anyone tell me where I can buy Birkenstocks in Taipei? Mine are somewhere in Taiwan hopefully being put to good use! I really like these suckers for standing and teaching all day. Thanks in advance.
There are several stores in Taipei, I remember one being on Yongkang Rd. and one at the MRT Station at Taipei Mainstation. I think they are even cheaper than the ones in Germany…
Don’t know if you mean the Shida store when you say Yongkang. But anyway, as tywan seems to be a new forumosan, maybe s/he isn’t familiar with this area. So here goes:
You take the south-bound green MRT line down to Taipower station and get out at Exit (I think) 3 for Shida Road. Once at the top of the stairs at street level, turn right and keep to your right. You will, after 10 meters or so, turn right onto Shida Road. Again, keep on the right side of the street. Keep on going, you’ll pass a fruit store and a bakery that displays all their bread in the polluted open air (unbelievable!). Then, there’ll be a Hang Ten clothing store. At the Hang Ten, hang a right. The Birkenstock store will the second on your right.
I know of one a few doors up from Grandma Nitti’s and another one on JuLin road Yungho near the intersection of JuLin and Yungho road., 2 minutes walk from Tingshi stastio.

They also sell Birkenstocks in the basement of the Dunhua South Road Eslite, but the shoes were moved into a corner of a store there, so choice is limited.
I also seem to remember a Birkenstock store on Tianmu W Rd, but that’s so long ago.
I know for certain there is also one close to the Sogo: on the corner of Zhongxiao East Road Sec 4 and Da’an Road, you go north and turn right at the first intersection, that’s the street behind the Dinghao Building, which used to house the Tower Records (if you remember that), and has IS Coffee, Dinghao bakery, Chinatrust Bank on its ground floor and now Rose Records on the 2nd. Just giving you all that because I don’t have a clue what the street behind the building is named.
You are in Lungtan right?
You don’t need to go all the way to Taipei for birkies… You can get them at both the Metrowalk in Chungli and Taimall in Taoyuan.
We are not that backwards here…
Thanks Michael J Botti, I’ve only been to Taoyuan twice, once to Sogo, and they don’t carry 'em! Just curious…where are these malls located or are Taoyuan and Jongli small enough that I will “bump” into them eventually?
I am now the proud owner of black, Arizona style, microfiber, Birkenstock sandals…got them at the Metrowalk mall in Jongli. They also have Burger King…coool! Thanks again everyone for all your help!!
