Lucy got spayed ... (20 images) ... warning, gross

Today Lucy got spayed after a lenghty recovery from CDV and a bout of scabies … finally the big day, for her and for me … she’s doing fine and is recovering from the surgery …
As a photographer I had the crazy idea to take my camera and make some images of the whole operation …

NFTFH (not for the faint hearted) … NSBLOD ( not suiteable before lunch … or dinner) …

Getting ready for surgery …

Making insision …

Openeing up …

Pulling out the uterus and ovaries …

Intermezzo …

Tying up uterus in preparation of snipping it off …

Severing and removing the unwanted parts …

Stitching up …

Intermezzo … showcase … unwanted parts: uterus and ovaries …

Closing up the wound …

More uterus, surgical tools and blood stained cloth …

Display of uterus and ovaries …

My apology if it was too gross … I just had to document it …

DO you literally take photos of everything? I’m just trying to work out who is the intended audience for these pics…

dude… that was mmmm… well anyway, i hope that it will recover soon !!

Obviously us folks that just couldn’t pass up the lure of looking at them. :unamused:

I appreciated the pics.

I used to watch “The Operation” on the Learning channel back home.

Quite interesting

When one of my dogs got spayed I went into the vet afterwards and he asked me if I wanted to see what he removed. I said sure and he showed me that the dog had been pregnent. Only a week or so, so the fetus’ were about the size of a peanut. (She was a stray)

Glad I caught that in time.

Absolutely fascinating. I’ve never seen an actual spay before. Thanks. Really beautiful photography too, of course, but that goes without saying for pretty much all your stuff, you bastard.

those are gorgeous photos!

and pretty interesting… i love looking at medical stuff… do you have close-up shots of lucy? she looks so much like my dog. except i think he’s smaller… and i have no idea what kind of breed he is…

Where can I have it done?! Hahaha. If only they didn’t put newspaper on the table…

glad that she’s doing fine and waiting to hear more and see more:)

I guess he ran out of white paper … but anyhow, she’s fine and there were no complications … BTW, the vet is great …
I’ve seen him do some other surgery before on a dog’s urinary system and he wore a mask and stuff and no newspaper …

I love your pics, Belgian. Maybe you could come to the AT holding centre one of these days and get some equally good shots of our ‘models’.

Can be done … we can work something out
