There are recent reports of some people having Safari issues. About 2 days ago, I had a lot of crashing though I also have tons of Safari plugins. I think I made sure I updated them all, deleted my Safari cache, history, and downloads file. It’s all good now.
For specific things, you might try macfixit. It’s subscription only but it is the best place on the web to find fix it solutions.
[quote=“Limey”]Cheers G. Yes to all the above, cleared the cashe and history file. Still no go.
Can I just reinstall safari from the original software disc?
(Before I delete anything are you sure it is safe to?..Limeypooshispantsnotwantingtofuckupexpensiveequipment8O)
I had no idea all those would still be there, even after a reset!

You can delete all those files without problems. You’d just be delete cache and history files. Quit Safari before you do them.
If you wanted to, you could reinstall Safari 2.0 from the Tiger DVD. Pacifist allows you to install specific files and folders. The program is kinda techie. You could do this or just reinstall the Combo Tiger 10.4.2 update.
There’s lots of caches you can delete, repairing permissions, and stuff. But I don’t think it’s necessary for strictly Safari problems.
Have you checked out pimpmysafari L? Nice Safari plugins. I’m using Saft, LiveDictionary, fiwt, and SafariStand
Saft - shortcuts, type ahead like Firefox, full screen mode, ad blocker, and more
LiveDictionary - mouse over words on webpages and get definitions or translations even
fiwt - I prefer the type ahead with this over Safari
SafariStand - tons of stuff.
For Mac? Where? I use Netscape once in a while - for the things you can’t do in safari, my bank has even caugth up now and offer Safari broswing, looks like poo though.
All good at the mo…but not been surfing long…
Gary - I’m not gonna mess around right now, when I know I’m out of the brown stuff then I’ll have a play.
