Mahjong

Hey,
Anyone know of a place where I can play mahjong in Taipei. Im really missin it.

Thanks

yeah, anywhere?

Serious reply please. Can someone out there tell me where other people play, perse, a place, hall, house, ect…

There is apparently a mahjong group starting Thursday, September 9 at the Community Service Center in Tienmu, but it’s 1.30-4.30pm, if that’s any good to you :idunno:

Thanks that’s good for me. i hope to see some of you guys there!!! :bravo:

I was watching Driving Miss Daisy this morning and that old lady and four friends were playing Mahjong :astonished:. I didn’t know old white ladies in the sixties played Mahjong. You learn something new everyday.

I watched that movie in a cinema in Taipei back in 1990. The audience’s reaction was pretty similar - gasps of surprise and laughter, as in “I didn’t know old waiguoren ladies played mahjong!”

My Nana plays Mah Jong twice a week. But it’s Western Mahjong. Quite different. Actually there’s loads of different varities. Taiwanese Mahjong is unique (different form Shnaghai, Japanese etc).

I think it’s probably illegal to play mahjong in public.

Would be nice to gather up to play a bit of Mahjong. If you are looking for more people, let me know. I like to play too, but I only know the rules to Taiwanese mahjong.
