Mail forwarding from US

Has anyone used any mail forwarding services to gather their mail from the US? Not quite USPS Post Office boxes, but for any packages/parcels/mail that you get in the US (many online vendors don’t ship international)?

I’ve been looking at Bongo (bongous.com/) and a few others. Seems like a fairly good deal - you can collect all your stuff and then ship it when your ready, saving on shipping costs as everything can be packaged together. Or, if something’s important, you can have it sent over right away.

Anyone used Bongo or a similar service to get your stuff from America send to Taiwan? I’d be interested in hearing your experiences/feedback.

Bump – anyone using these services? I noticed that in Bongo’s terms and conditions, one has to provide a notarized copy of a postal form and ID, which sounds like a pain.

I used recently Shipito, quite fast, cheaper then Amazon.
Can be paid by credit card or Paypal, with the basic account, they offer you a lot virtual addresses

Tome1807, shipitto.com looks interesting, but wonder how they do with mail consolidation? Did you use it only one time, or for mail consolidation, where they collect all your mail, then forward?

They do, but then you need a virtual mailbox

I used it one time, cause I bought an AV receiver from Amazon.
The mailing costs by Amazon would have been 290 USD, with Shipito was around 170 USD.
But only cause the box was bigger then Amazon wrote on their website. Otherwise it would have been around 110 USD

I am starting to get a bit annoyed by paying double -shipping by Ebay or Amazon is almost the same as the item I buy, that’s no fun. If I get this kind of service, will I see a remarkable reduction in costs? I mean, I’d settle for 50%.

I am looking for a US address, with a service that will forward my mail monthly. Family or friends could do it, but would like to have an independent service.

This article from E-How might be of help…

I use mailboxforwarding.com and I’m really happy with them. They’ll even receive faxes and deposit checks for you. Customer support is responsive, and they’ll accommodate special instructions for shipping, like to remove product packaging and combine for shipment, etc.

I recently used ShippingCart.com to get some Amazon items in the US to Manila, and it was overall a good experience. The online part was great - simple, clear - and so was the actual shipping. I messed up the delivery to their warehouse in the Bay Area - it was my fault, although I didn’t realize it at the time - and I managed to sort things out thanks to a friend who I didn’t know was in senior management of the company.

They ship to the Philippines and Malaysia, so I asked my friend when they might ship to Taiwan. I buy a lot from Amazon and I’m a Prime customer, so I’m loving the free shipping to Taiwan, but not everything gets the free shipping treatment, and Amazon doesn’t have EVERYTHING I buy (yet).

I used Shipito in the past. I like the virtually free US address, but am not crazy how quickly costs pile up when letters and little packages arrive. Especially when its an official receipt of something unimportant and I probably wouldn’t even open it if it made it to me by post – heaven forbid junkmail ever figures out my Shipito address!

Does anyone these days use anything as savvy as ShippingCart to process mail and non-Amazon-free-shipping items to Taiwan? I will check out mailboxforwarding (even though this is 10 year old post)

I use myus.com for anything that can’t be shipped directly. So far so good.

How do those services work with Taiwan customs laws?

They prepare a customs declaration, you pay import tax on arrival.

The cost savings in shipping comes about because of consolidation and repacking more practically. If you have several packages, each one will likely be take up more space than they actually require. So, part of the service is to open the packages and combine them into a single package that is more efficient.

Then, they can offer even better discounts because they qualify for the best rates with the logistics providers. I recall, for example, that Shipito gets better rates from the US Postal service than what the USPS offers regular customers – so Shipito is passing along their bulk rates to its customers.

So, when the package arrives in Taiwan, it is subject to the same scrutiny and rules as any package. Indeed, you select the logistics provider from your Shipito account to your address in Taiwan - so if you chose DHL, then your package will be treated like any DHL arrival, i.e., so any taxable items will be subject to customs duties.

Yeah, but last time I got a package through DHL I paid 40% over the original price, and a large chunk of that was DHL’s fee. What happens if you ship through USPS? How do you pay the customs fee if you don’t pay it to the shipping company?

Drug dealers love that!

I’ve also used myus.com for a few years now. Never a problem.

US Expats! A letter from Texas was sent to me in Taipei through American post its almost 10 working days still didn’t reach me. The sender was informed that Taiwan comes under China so there might be issues with delivery(?!) Is there a way to find out where exactly the letter is? or any recommended postal service from US to Taiwan in 2-3 days?

It could take days or months or never arrive.

Do you have a tracking number?
