Mainland wife, foreign husband

What is the current situation for a foreign husband with an ARC who wants to bring along a spouse (previously married) with a PRC passport? Is it even possible?

I need to find out for a foreigner who was about to accept a job and move here, and then I told him he’d better check out this situation for his wife first.

I remember the old Oriented legal matters forum had a posting on this issue.

Does anyone have info. or a link to some info?

Many Thanks!

I know of no examples of this having been successfully done where the wife only has a PRC passport.

If the husband is here in Taiwan, and has an ARC, we could arrange a coordination meeting with the MAC to discuss it. If not . . . . then most likely you will not be able to get a definitive answer.

This is my experience. The Chinese officials want to talk about “reality” and not “theories” or “speculation”.

It has happened, I know that for sure, as I met the woman in question. I think it took them one year. Unfortunately I don’t know any details.

i know for a fact that certain foreign representative office has lobbied this for an individual from its country and suceeded, it seems that political lobbying from the “embassies” will work the best, and it’s on a case-by-case approach, provided that the country of origin of the non-PRC passport holder is one which taiwan government cares about
