Making the most out of the Citizen Digital Certificate

So I recently got my Citizen Digital Certificate in the post. I’ve been trying to figure out how to make the most out of it, but so far I’ve only found it useful for viewing my entry and exit dates for the ROC.

If you have the card, what are some of the most useful features you have used?

The most useful feature of the CDC for me is the ability to use it to file taxes online (whether single or jointly with your spouse). All the necessary information needed to file your taxes have already been uploaded to your account, all I have to do is download the file, check if everything’s in order (deductions, exemptions etc) and click Send. We even have the option of choosing which Bank Account we want the tax rebate (if any) to go to. We can do all this in the comfort of our home or in the Office and not having to go to the tax office and wait.

The next feature which I’ve used (albeit only once) is the ability to report a lost/misplaced ID. As soon as I made the report online, my lost ID was locked and anyone who tried to use it illegally, would be caught. After making the report, I went to the HHR and got my new one in under 30 mins (didn’t need to fill up any forms or file a report as I had already done it with my CDC)

Another feature I’ve found useful is the ability to check your medical records online (Hospital visits, medications prescribed etc). We can even download all records in Excel or word format and save it on our computer.

Do you know if there is a full list of things the CDC can be used for?

In Chinese, here
http://moica.nat.gov.tw/link_1.html

Go to the Ministry of Interior’s website http://moica.nat.gov.tw/ , choose your eligibility (Aliens CDC in your case) & click on 應用服務(application) and you will see a list of things you can do with your CDC. For Citizens, the CDC can be used for a lot of other things.
