The 55 year old driver was pulled out of his cab by the neck by her thug friends and roughed up and left on the road while they escaped in another cab. They never reported the incident to police but were instead identified later and then questioned.
Taiwan is getting soft on crime. They should be in jail for a few months for assault.
Who knows … both stories sound implausible (although I find it slightly more believable that a Taiwanese person would fight to the death rather than wear a seatbelt). I guess this is why God invented dashboard cameras … otherwise, it’s just one person’s word against the other.

cept now in my last vid clip shes admitting that she was drunk and had no idea what she was saying in her first vid conference where she made the accusation. Her mother has said that her daughter was drunk and not aware of what was what.
First she hid under the "he touched my breasts so my freinds beat him up " umbrella and now she is hiding under the “i was so drunk i had no idea what was going on and i was scared so I dint report to the police” defense.

And taxi drivers are getting softer. Back in the day, the japanese boyfriend would have had his head kicked in, and then, when reinforcements arrived, the rest of him.
yeah cuz most of the local junior celebs are close to taxi drivers who drive them everywhere. TAxi and junior celebs have always gone hand in hand IIRC.
YES on latest comments bout taxi drivers. This was one taxi driver that apparently waas NOT an ex con. Too bad it wasnt one that WAS. Then we would have us a nice Saturday nite street beat up when 200 taxis pull up for sure. They would have to send police to extract those two japanese junior thugs.
This taxi driver called the poh lease on his cell when he shouldve foned in to taxi headquarters on his radio and reported him being beaten (or in the case of an ex con cabbie about to beat up some japa thugs).
He was hurt really bad, just hope he doesn’t die or end disabled. Makiyo has a restaurant and from the “news”, apparently, the taxi company will boicot it and not take patrons there. It doesn’t look like one of the big companies, though.
In the media, her drinking problem, not her friend’s, is the one brought under scrutinity. She has changed her story way too many times -she even claimed at some point she forgot her phone and purse in the beaten driver’s car- that even she will find it hard to ferret herself out of any reponsibility in this incident.

There is a witness who recorded some of the incident, called the police and followed the “party” afterwards. Japanese guy asks how the driver is hurts so bad if he did not hit him that hard…
She’s a nasty, lying, booze-addled, couldn’t-give-a-shit-about-anyone-else piece of trash. She’s going to pay very dearly for this disgusting assault, and she’ll deserve absolutely every hit she takes.
The taxi driver is still in intensive care, drifting in and out of consciousness. The Japanese thug who was with this “celebrity” was kicking him repeatedly in the head as he lay on the ground, and then they left him unconcious on the road while they scuttled off in another taxi. All because of what? Because they didn’t like the tone in which he insisted on their fastening their seatbelts.
When he stopped the taxi and, presumably, told them to get out, one of the other two women in their group of four started to pay the fare, but as the petrified friend has now testified, this Miyako piece stuck her hand forward from the back seat and stopped her from paying. She had recently proclaimed in a magazine interview, apparently with great pride, that she was in the habit of cursing taxi drivers and running off without paying them, so this incident was nothing new. Her lies about the taxi driver having attempted to grope her added insult to grievous injury, and I hope she’ll be prosecuted for libel as well as for being an accomplice to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and grievous bodily harm, theft, criminal damage (she was filmed kicking the taxi while her thug friend was kicking the driver senseless), and anything else the prosecutors can find to throw at her.
So far, she’s only been charged with criminal damage for the kick on the taxi door, released on NT$30,000 bail, and restricted from leaving the country. The prosecutors haven’t been able to take a statement from the taxi driver yet and are still collecting evidence, but it is to be hoped that more serious charges will follow. Given the public outcry against this woman, other more serious charges will surely follow. She is also certainly going to have to pay very heavy damages to the victim, and I hope it’ll leave her penniless, jobless and friendless (her pals like Little S will surely drop her like a ton of bricks to preserve their own none-too-pure images as best they can).
Me too. That’s awful. And since when was a damaged taxi door worth more than a man’s life? Honestly, I swear people here give more respect to cars than they do to people.
No, he’s not dead yet. I’ve been following this in the local media. The prosecutors went to the hospital to take his statement last night, but the doctors wouldn’t let them in to see him, so they just took a statement from his wife about what he’d said to her during his conscious moments. But he’s suffered bleeding of the brain, and is not out of danger.
Another of the Miyako woman’s pathetic attempts to lie and bluster her way out of it, at a press conference her handlers arranged for her when it was beginning to blow up and threaten her fat 7-figure monthly income, was that it was all a misunderstanding due to the passengers not having a common language with the taxi driver. Only, she has a Taiwanese mother (born in Japan to a Japanese father), has lived in Taiwan since she was 10 years old, and frequently appears on TV programs where she converses easily in fluent Mandarin. Not to mention that the other two women in the cab are 100% Taiwanese. She wasn’t quite bright enough to figure out how easily people would see through that one.
She really seemed to believe that she could shrug it all off by appearing at this press conference in a cleavage-flaunting, off-the-shoulder dress, batting her eyes at the cameras, making a couple of perfunctory bows, muttering hollow bu hao yisi’s, and tossing out a few juicy accusations against the driver (with a hint about suing him if he persisted in trying to cause trouble - just imagine the gall of it!).

I have often wondered though, as you point out that getting sued for liable is one of the outcomes of this. If the taxi driver doesn’t do this, and there is overwhelming evidence that she should be, is it possible in Taiwanese law for a third party to act on (in this case) the taxi driver’s behalf? Purely for interests sake you understand, I don’t want to get on the stand or anything.
The report I saw was that the Japanese guy got bail but could not leave the country. I hope that is the case, although it would have been better if he had not got bail for a serious assault.

In Taiwan, defamation is a criminal rather than civil proceeding. But I’m not sure who, apart from the injured party, can file a defamation lawsuit here.
