Malting process: sake vs. sweet fermented rice (酒酿)

I purchased a mold culture for sweet fermented rice (酒酿) at the underground market on Roosevelt Rd., and am wondering if same mold culture would work to malt rice for sake. I believe the strain is Aspergillus Oryzae but not quite sure. Label is Pinyined as Tian Jiu Yao. Anyone with experience please hit me up. Thanks.
