Man bites dog

To the (foreign) man who repeatedly yelled “F*** YOU!!” and whacked the dog outside my house with a good sized stick tonight: Good Job!

Neighbors comments

Neighbor 1: What happened?
Dog Owner: The dog barked at him and the lowei went crazy!
Neighbor 2: Good Dog.
Neighbor 1: Damn foreigners.

Actually the dog leaped out at the foreigner passing by on his bicycle, barked and I think may have bitten him (though not sure).
The dog does it to everyone that passes by. I guess this time the foreigners bite was worse than his bark! It was quite a show.

I got some of it on video, but it was at night so the quality isn’t so good. Can bearly make out anything at all, really.
Here it is anyway:

Actually, it would have been better if the foreigner had whacked the dog’s owner. Many of the dogs I have seen in Taiwan get quite mean simply because they are chained up all day and night by owners who, except for feedings, ignore their animals.
I had a similar experience in Taiwan. A neighborhood dog, which was not chained up, used to bark at me and act in a very aggressive manner whenever I or anyone else would come by. I felt very afraid until one day I got fed up and chased the beast down the block with a brick in my hand. The next time I saw it, I chased it again. I did this a few more times, and finally the dog learned that it is best not to keep up this practice when it saw me coming down the road.
I love animals, especially dogs, and I hate to think that the foreigner actually hurt the dog, but I do completely understand his actions. I wonder if the dog will change its ways after this incident? I hope so.

The foreigner (maybe we should give him a name) was mostly whacking the dog house. I don’t think the dog was injured at all. Although, I’m sure the dog got a hell of a shock!

Unfortunately, the shock wasn’t enough to discourage big bad doggie from doing it again. I think he enjoys the screams of fright. … … as would I

Yeah, I have that problem with a dog that just showed up in front of a neighbor’s place. I much preferred the stray cats to this beast. I walk by it and it growls (it’s unchained). I’ve stopped and stared it in the eyes in an aggressive mood (dangerous I know) and it backs down. If it’s being left out in the alley (very narrow) with not restraints, the least its owners could do is snap on a muzzle seeing as it growls at everyone who passes. I wonder how much longer it will be before it snaps at someone. I am tempted to call animal control and be done with it. Anyone know where I can find a good stick (not for the dog, but to scare it off)?

ImaniOU,

This may sound silly but if you can find and carry some thing that makes a lot of noise it is possible that the dog will be afraid of you. For instance, say a whistle that you can carry in your purse/pocket. Then, when the dog starts acting aggressive, you simply give the whistle a good toot while moving toward the dog. This will probably give him a good scare. There is a another way but may not be too practical. A can with some coins inside that can be shaken will make a hell of a racket which may also scare the dog.
I think anything that let’s the dog know not to F#ck with you will stop his behavior in short order.

I’ve found most stray dog or dogs in general to be quite timid from the pit bulls I usually have the misfortune to cross path with stateside.

Or it could be the sign I wear went I travel in Taiwan that owners and dogs are respectful when I pass.
