Does anybody know any shops in Taipei or Kaohsiung that have a wide selection of Chinese music CDs and karaoke DVDs, one that has both Cantonese and Mandarin ones, and new and old (as far back as the early to mid 90s) releases?
you mean the same song but with both mandarin and cantonese lyrics? those are relatively hard to find in TW, but this record store has the most Cantonese album I know, as for karaoki, you need to try your luck!

Try the new Eslite bookstore in Xinyi (the flagship store, not to far from City Hall MRT) - found some not-so-common Chinese CDs for a friend there.
Dunno if they have the dual-language stuff, but it might be worth a try …
