Manicures and Pedicures

To all the girls on Forumosa:

Do you guys know any good pedicures place in Taiwan?? Like the one we had back in the US, where they massage ur feet, scrub away the dead skins and have various of colors to choose from… please let me know because summer is coming and my feet need some pampering…

thanks - MiakaW

Haven’t been there, but have heard they do a good job. About 1500 NT. Vivian Nails on Ren AI, not far from Sun Yet Sen Memorial hall…

I still need to get there myself.

If you go, or find somewhere else, give us a review.

Sharky

$1500??? FIFTEEN HUNDRED NT? For a pedicure???

For that kind of money, I’d want to walk out of there with a new pair of feet. [I hate my feet :-(]

anymore info?? just moving it up

I need a pedicure too. Any new info?

Ask your hair salons if they do manicures and pedicures. Many of the large chains offer this service. A manicure and pedicure at Mentor is 750NT. They are all over Taipei.

George Pais in TainMu also does it, but their method does not remove enough of the thick skinned areas on the heels. Any way that was my experience.

Contact Marice @0963167054.She is doing manicure/pedicure.Home service.

The Mentor Hair Styling Salon behind Sherwood Hotel does the best job. Ask for Xiao Ping. She does only manicure and pedicures, not cutting hair, so she knows what she is doing. She will massage your hands and feet afterwards if you ask. Nail polish is also available if you want. There is a minimal additional charge for the polish, and maybe also for massage.

She is pretty busy during some times of the day, so appointments are advisable otherwise you may have to wait 20 to 40 minutes.

Please include price when posting these helpful replies. I am interested, but for a reasonable price.

KariShare in Jasper Villa (the tall building next to Warner Village on the south side) does an excellent job. The cost is NT$1200; the treatment takes an hour and a half. They put your feet in a whirlpool then scrub of all the dead skin all while you sit in an electric massage chair and watch cable or read a book. Simply great!! You must book in advance though: 2872-3574

any other options or any other reivew?

Near Yuan Huan - west of ZhongSan Station on the Red line, there is a pedicure/manicure shop. They do not scrub the dead skin away but they do soak your hands/feet and then shape your nails, cut the cuticles and have various colours to choose from.
manicure = 150 NT, 20 min
pedicure = 350 NT, 20 min

They only speak Chinese. If you have trouble making an appointment, you can PM me. I go every 2 weeks.
They are open from 9:30 - 8 Mondays - Saturday. Open every other Sunday too.
Tel:2552-5360

I think that’s pretty reasonable. I just wish they also did the dead skin scrubbing. I gotta find a place that does that for a reasonable price.

This old dame needs one bad…where can I get a good, reasonably priced one in Taipei?

Just walk down Zhong Hsiao E Rd and look 2nd story or above.

This is an old topic, but I’m in desperate need to find a pedicure place that isn’t expensive that also scrubs away the dead skin. It’s summer, I want pretty feet. :slight_smile: I’ve been looking, but I can’t find a good place. Any suggestions? ^^

I’ve seen many places offering thai massage, foot massage, and manicure/pedicure places that will paint fancy designs on you, but I’m looking for a “manly” pedicure option, if it is at all possible to consider a pedicure to be “manly”. Let’s just say that the things I do are soooo manly that I need a pedicure or my feet may fall off.

Try the salons in nice hotels - Hyatt, Sheraton, Westin, not sure if the Sherwood has one…

See now to me this would be a perfect post for a newly-minted Men’s Forum. Most women wouldn’t know if their salon caters to male clients or if they’re good at it, and in a Men’s Forum, we could totally take a HUGE dump on this post as part of the festivities - and who knows, maybe a good answer or 2 to boot…

I recently helped a visitor find a pedicure place in Tianmu, not far east of the Shipai MRT station.

The store, which is quite narrow and easy to miss, is on the north side of the street in the last stretch of buildings before you get to Veterans’ General Hospital (i.e., somewhere around 183 Shipai Road Section 2). If you’re walking east toward the hospital, watch for a small store selling dried goods (beans and such). The pedicure place is immediately past that, though it can be hard to see because (1) the dried goods store has mirrors on its wall (creating the illusion of windows into another dried goods store, rather than showing the wall between the store and the pedicure place) and (2) the narrow front window is often obscured by a rack of sandals for sale.

I don’t remember just how much it cost. Perhaps NT$300 for 30 minutes of work. My friend was very pleased with the pedicure he received, which was most manly and did not involve toenail polish.

There’s a big glitzy Dermatology clinic (Tip: there are no podiatrists in Taiwan, dermatologists cover that area) on Chungshiao near Sung Ren, downstairs from the Indian store.
They would doubtless be set up to take care of your needs with a minimum of sparkles being applied.

Take it to the men’s forum.
