For those of you looking for an option to have Latin food at very reasonable prices, I invite you to try Maria Latino. After being a staple in Kaohsiung, they have just opened a branch here in Taipei. This cozy location serves lunches and snacks, won’t close in the afternoon if you’d like some empanadas at coffee time.
Other notable dishes:
Argentinian fried rice with chorizo Argentino
Latino set meal: salad, rice, breaded fish in house sauce, fries and something else I forgot.
Also pasta and rissotto.
Address: Dunhua North Road, Lane 244, No.37
Phone: 2717-2747
Call ahead if you’d like some cremas, aka natillas (puddings) as they disappear pretty fast.
There is a small park in front of it, and a large public parking lot -cheap- around the corner, right on Dunhua.
When I was there, the locals were quite impressed by the size and taste of the portions. One of those petite Taiwanese girls took care of a sizeable pasta plate that her boyfriend moments before, as it was being served, offered to help along as “she would never finish it”.
