I arrived in Taipei a few days ago; staying for 4 weeks. I brought some gear (kit helmet shoes pedals saddle) with the intention of keeping up with my cycling while I am here - but no bike.
I don’t want to spend much I am looking for a decent Aluminum frame road bike which I’ll buy here and ship back to america as I leave. Since I’ll sell the bike upon my return I’d prefer to buy something used here. Price should be around $1,500 USD and I am 6’1".

Where is the best place to look for used bikes?
& Does anyone know of a good ‘side-door’ bike shop for a new bike?
BTW, I am loving this weather. Back home it’s probably snowing…

but if your budget is USD1500 i.e. c. NTD 50,000 you can get a decent first hand road bike here no? Aluminium frame bikes with front carbon forks and Shimano 105/SRAM rival gruppos start at about NTD35,000 here. Any larger Giant or Fuji shop can at least order you a 56/58 size.
@FissionX Try searching for “bike name site:.tw” in Google and you’ll get anything for sale on a .tw site. If you use the specific model name, that part is usually written in English, even on local sites.
As mentioned above ruten.com.tw is the one I’ve found the most stuff on. But you’ll need a f***ing local ID number to signup (I hate that requirement on Taiwanese sites).
If you can wait, tell as many shops as possible that you’re looking and ask them to keep an eye out for one. They’re all friendly, helpful and when they sell a bike, there’s a good chance it’s replacing one. Big spenders are often replacing bikes that are still awesome.
If you have $1,500 to spend, then by all means get a new one - some decent ones out there. Check out No.7 Park Bike Shop on Song Long Road and ask for Summer or Elephant, they will be able to get you on a nice bike for a good deal.
