After getting married I am doing a lot of freelance work. How do I get on the national medical insurance scheme?
It would seem that getting on a Joining Family Resident Visa (JFRV) would be a good starting point …
Ah sorry for the lack of information. I am married and have the JFVR. Most of the work I do is freelance or part time. How am I able to get into the national medical insurance sceme?
I looked at the website and it stated that I can either get it through an employer. But i don’t work full time for one employer. Be a dependent on my spouse’s medical insurance through her work. (I’d rather just do it myself). Get it through the area in which you are registered. (Its in Kaoshuing and I live in Taipei). I was wondering if there was another way that I am not aware of.
Those are the ways you can do it.
Being a dependent on your spouse’s insurance is probably the cheapest, but getting it through the area where you are registered on your own only comes to about NT$650 a month in premiums. Statements are sent every two months and you can pay them at 7-eleven just like any other bill.
Being registered in Kaohshiung is a bit of a trouble spot for you, but give your local office a call; I don’t recall that you specifically have to reside in that area to apply for it, or just need a household registration to prove where you “live”.
Good luck.
