marriage in Taiwan, divorce in United States at TECO?

Does he read and write Mandarin? If not he would not know what he signed. TECO cannot issue a divorce decree that must be done either in the USA in in Taiwan. To have done so in Taiwan both parties can sign a divorce agreement but he would have had to have been in Taiwan to have done this.

You would need to have the document in Chinese translated. Also is he claimed he was never married before he married you then that can be a legal issue. Perhaps he never got that legal divorce in Taiwan just a separation.

Doesn’t read mandarin, said he didn’t know what he was signing but was told it was for a divorce.
From everything I’ve read it does not seem possible to divorce at a consulate— they only apostille the decree, the divorce must happen following local laws.
What could they have signed I wonder?

I sent a message to @marco because I couldn’t find his messages with the attorney card.

Thanks for your help!

I think he wants to let sleeping dogs lied, but his wishful thinking about legal issues had caused us problems before. It’s in character.

US and Taiwan attorneys ready to help.

He’d rather let sleeping dogs lie, and also doesn’t want to face the possibility we aren’t married.

For myself, I’d rather know the facts and deal appropriately so we aren’t blindsided.

As for children, I’m positive that he isn’t sending any child support to anyone— but that doesn’t rule out the possibility of a child. I mean, if I were Taiwanese, wanted out of my marriage and found out I was pregnant I might book it to Taiwan too.

I just emailed him. Thanks @Marco

Why did it take you 10 months?

Ohhh several good reasons. Not wanting to know the answer is one!
