Married to Taiwanese / facts please

Doesn’t matter w/ the MOE says or thinks.
They do not handle your deportation, the
cops do. The MOE can only fine your school
at which your employed, which is not your
problem. If you take the time to stop by your
local copshop, they will tell you, as they told
me before, that as a foreigner married to a
local, you have a right to work.

I knew an American guy in Taiwan who worked for
years (barely had one semester of college
under his belt). Cops didn’t care as he had an
ARC through marriage. Schools didn’t ask
because he already had an ARC. For about $180NT
or so you can send off for an Open Work Permit
(issued in Taipei) - do they still do that? I don’t
know. Anyways, to get one, you don’t even need to
send them a copy of your degree. This
American guy had one that he (shrunk then lamenated)
carried in his wallet. If the MOE stops by the school
and wants to fine them, you pull out your Open Work
Permit and say, “hey, I’m not a teacher, I’m the janitor.”
Which is perfectly legal and they can’t fine the school
jack sh*t.

Hell, I had an Open Work Permit when I was in Taiwan
before. Cops told me that I could work as a doctor or
lawyer if I could find someone that would hire me. Now
that would’ve been fun.

Yes it does matter what the MOE thinks. If the police have a question about whether a foreigner is working illegally in a school, they will ask the MOE. If the MOE says the foreigner is illegal, the police will deport the foreigner.
