You need to get Al Jazeera

Yeah? did they have a countdown to the bombing?

the Marriott chain has copped more than its fair share, if you remember the blast in Kuala Lumpur a few years ago too. who have they pissed off? surely it’s not the only 5-star hotel in islamabad.

and now people are saying that it was perhaps the parliament building nearby that was the original target, and the plan went cock-eyed.

Al Jazeera were doing a live news event not far from the Marriot when the explosion happened so they just happened to be nearby and you could clearly here the explosion in the background.

Looks like the hotel might now be in danger of collapse. Plenty of dead as usual.

The hotel is burning out of control.

Al Jazeera is the only news organization running a live new cast of the current situation.

Classic post material, that. Er, quip anyway (unfortunately Satellite TV was a bit of collateral damage here while yall got on the same topic, terrorism not satellite-dish sales).

fred smith’ll probably shoot you an express invite to his next double epic soirree over that one.

Must remember: Truant, quick, quick, quick. Check. :notworthy:

OK I could have said yes the countdown was running, the news crew were on hand and of course got the live scoop whilst the CNN crew were doxing in their office again.

quick = live… no room for the slow pokes from CNN

Holy shit! Look at the size of the bomb crater.

Im currently in Pakistan, although nowhere near the capital thank god. The truck was carrying about 1000kg of explosives which as you see caused a shitload of damage. Only a couple of weeks ago in Quetta, another 1000kg stash of explosives were found and sources say it was possibly intended for the same target. (You wont see that on the news though)
Sadly, there will be more of this happening. Brace yourselves.

"According to many Pakistani sources commenting to media after the explosion, including Lt General Talaat Massud the Terror attack has a “loud and clear message.” He asserted that those behind the operation “wants to tell the Pakistani Government to stop sending the Army into their (Taliban) areas and to oppose any intervention (against al Qaeda) inside Pakistan by the United States.” Massud comments, aired on BBC were firm: “This is a mega explosion and it needs mega decisions in the country, more will come.”

Jihadi Hellish message to Pakistan

With the Paki mil increasing its actions in the outer provinces against the terrs it looks like this sort of retaliation will increase. Its a concerted effort to undermine the gov’t and frighten the people into submission. More pics at the site.

In the end, the Jihadist plan can be summarized as follow:

 1. Intimidate the Government into a pull back position
 2. Containing the Pakistani military efforts against Waziristan
 3. Create a wedge between the Army and the Government
 4. Trigger a crisis between Washington and Islamabad
