Here’s a challenge… a box of matches. Real wooden stick matches. A visit to the most logical places, including Wellcome, came up fruitless. Anyone know where they can be found in Taipei?
Try the bars of the fancier hotels…
The old mom and pop convenience stores sometimes have them.
Also shops like those up at Jiufen, selling touristy hadicrafty sorta stuff often have boxes of matches with picture of movie stars on them.

By the way, I just found them just down the street from my place at a wine shop that also sells cigars. They gave me ten small boxes for free!
