Mayor comes home with lessons from Finland

One of the purposes of the visit was to gain insight into how Finland and the Baltic countries had managed to retain their independence under the threat of the regional power, the Soviet Union, said Ko.

Ko believes that innovation is the only way out for Finland, a country with scarce natural resources and a poor demographic dividend due to a low birth rate. The operations of the state-owned VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland, for example, could be a source of inspiration for Taiwan, as it pioneers in technological innovation and offers solutions to social problems, he said.

Hence Ikea…oh wait, that’s Sweden.

Yes it does, I see trees everyday :christmas_tree:. Also Finland has lots of resources compared to Taiwan. We Finns try get 100 percent of food grown in country, point in storyline seems wrong.

Timber is nice. It’s not oil. Taiwan has tasty fruit.

Finland gets more energy sourced from trees than oil. Your in Taipei?, What fruit grows this season, is wax apple time

Scandinavia is such a great place. Imagine if Putin was running it.

That’s the reason Finland wants to join N.A.T.O. I saw Latvians and Lithuanian people already joined the group. Maybe Taiwan, can join too since already a Asian member in the group.

NATO is the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation

Taiwan couldn’t join even if it was recognised as a country because it’s not in the North Atlantic

The Mediterranean Sea is an atlantic sea.

NATO was formed to counter Russia in the Atlantic region.

How do you do that? Besides burn a log to heat your home.

Estonia and Latvia are not on the Atlantic and saw Wikipedia map shop Japan as associate or something like that so maybe Taiwan can be too
