Meat Importers

hello,
Does anyone know of any Meat Importers ( particularly PEPPERONI , SALAMI, and other sandwich meats for subs) anywhere in Taiwan. It is no problem trucking to my location.

Thank You!

Only slightly tangential - chorizo and other sausages: call 0919250220. You could also get some salami etc. at Costco and other shops around town and have a look at the label to trace the importer.

Thank You Dragonbones.
I am off to Costco this saturday to hunt. Really appreciate the help.

There are probably much better shops for this than Costco, btw – just none near me. Have a Search in the Food Forum for some other ideas, like Jason’s, Tianmu Butcher, and so on.

Did you just say chorizo? Oh my god…who’s the phone number, I am very interested!

Igorveni, see this thread for The Wurst Sausages from Hualien, and this one for Mr Sausage. I just got a package of chorizo from Wurst, and it looks nice and red … I’m thawing some now to cook tonight. Oh, and Costco has some delicious Andouille, which is like a very mild cousin of chorizo. Mr Sausage’s chorizo was also really very mild. We’ll see if Wurst’s does any better. EDIT: Wurst’s chorizo is good, but mild just like Mr Sausage’s. Highly recommended, as both are full of flavorful spices and absolutely delicious – but if you’re used to the hot Mexican stuff, you’ll want to add a lot of paprika and chile powder as you stir fry it.

Thomas Meat imports beef, lamb, turkey, seafood and so on from the US and NZ, maybe from other places. They also import sauces, pickles etc. They sell to the major hotels in Taiwan, and offer retail sales from their store near Wanlong MRT station in Taipei, or online with a delivery service. They might have what you are looking for.

Thank you DB and Asianbaby.

Not exactly an importer, but 富統 Fu4tong3 (a local firm) produces a wide variety of meat products. At belgian pie’s suggestion I contacted them today looking for chorizo. They’ve never heard of it, but they did report having pepperoni and salami for $210/kg (in 1-kg. pkgs). Their Taipei store is 2321-6147, and they do have a friendly, helpful staff member (Julie) who speaks English fluently. The address is 潮州街 137號 Chao2zhou1 Jie1 #137, 1F (behind Shida), open 8:30a-6p M-F, and open every other Saturday. They can deliver for orders over NT$500 depending on the area, with no delivery charge.

For those outside Taipei, call 08-777-2747.

Both are a little too sparing in their use of ears, snouts, rectums and gallbladders, and a little too heavy on the hooves, tails and cancerous tumors for my liking.

But I understand the sentiment. Nothing like frying up a greasy mess of ground pig entrails, mixed with scrambled eggs and wrapping it in a flour tortilla with a few slices of guac. Mmmmm.

 I’ll bet the sausages from Wurst and Mr Sausage use only ground pork, not the nasty bits.

Yes we only use pork and a little bit of fat to keep them moist. I guarantee there are no snouts, trotters, lips, arseholes, gall bladders, kidneys, or cancerous tumors.
