Hi,
I’m an American born Taiwanese male, age 26. Both parents were born in Taiwan. I have been looking into obtaining my household registration by going to live in Taiwan for 365 consecutive days so I can be eligible for EVA Air’s pilot program only open to Nationals with household registration.
My concern is how long the entire process will take - especially with military service.
I assume the process I need to take is:
- Apply for ROC passport at TECO with parents household registrations & marriage certificate & my birth certificate.
- Obtain ROC passport
- Apply for TARC with TECO so I can stay for 365 consecutive (Or go to Taiwan & apply for TARC)
- Stay the 365 consecutive days
- Apply for Household Registration
- Report to military conscription lottery location & serve 12 months after a few months following the lottery selection.
My question is, can I expedite this process by asking to join the conscription lottery when I first enter Taiwan so I can serve the 12 months of service while simultaneously fulfilling the 365 day residence requirement? I’d really like to cut this process down from 2+ years to 1+. Is there strict rules on whether you can even apply for household registration before the 365 day requirement has been met/do I NEED to have household registration to fulfill my military service requirement?
Thanks!
