Miami vice; how the series ends?

Miami Vice Formosa Fans,
Miami Vice did make it over here to Taiwan and some of my Taiwanese prosecutor and judge students have seen it. The other day in class we were talking about how the show ended.

I saw the final episode but…it has been so many years I have forgotten how it ended. I remember being quite impressed with the last show-I was always a big Vice fan.

So, do I have this right or completely screwed up. In the last episode Sonny and Tubbs come to find out that the U.S. federal government (I guess the DEA) is in fact assisting and protecting certian drug smugglers (for whatever reason) and that revelation (that there is a whole leval of corruption and hypocrisy “above” them at the Federal/DEA level) causes them to realize they have been risking their lives, busting their asses working while in fact the Federal government is involved in the drug trade.

So they quit the force and the last scene is the great one where Sonny and Tubbs say goodby and Sonny says something along the lines of “…well I am going to keep heading south where the drinks are cooler and the sea bluer…” or something along those lines.

Is this basically how it ends or is my 47 year old mind confused?

take care,
Brian

If I remember right, it’s scheduled to really end next year, with a movie version.

As for your actual question, no idea.

Dude! Thanks for spoiling the ending for me :raspberry: I was gonna finish watching the last couple episodes back in the 80’s, but lost track of time…now it’s just pointless…

Don Johnson is the other one’s father.

I guess Don Johnson did really head south. Read somewhere that he was arrested for carrying tons of extra cash in an alleged money-laundering operation. It would be a pity for a guy who dressed in such cool clothes to end up in the slammer. Does anyone know if he beat the rap?
