Every night, at about 12 a.m., I hear what sounds like a fire-cracker or a simulated gun-shot followed by what sounds like a woman’s agonized scream. The same shot and the same scream every time. No variations. It’s in Neihu.
my vote is going for those screaming fireworks - you know the screaming banshee. some crackers followed by a banshee.
Do you live near a temple?
This makes sense. I’ve never heard of banshee fireworks before. There’s a small, non-descript temple on my street and possibly some bigger ones in the neighborhood. Is it some religious ritual to set off a banshee firecracker at midnight? Remember, these are the same sounds at the same time every night that carry up from the street below. It’s not computer games, or a baby or cat crying. It’s just the exact same, one scream every time.
It’s the cry of the Banshee…from the frequency your neighbourhood seems to be suffering from the plague.
We had a similar thing happen close to us at dusk every day. I would hear this huge roar like someone trying to exorcise a demon…almost every day…
This went on for months…one day I came home early and I saw this guy on a scooter selling fish out the back of it…I’d just got in the apartment and I heard the ‘mystery screamer’, yes it was his way of getting all the obasans in the neighbourhood to know he was in the area, I even saw him let out a roar, very impressive!
