The title says it all.
I have an ARC linked to studying Chinese; I missed 33 hours of class this semester. Currently the immigration rules state that if a student is absent for more than 30 hours, the ARC will be not be renewed. Consequently I will have to leave Taiwan at the end of this semester (March 23). Given the cost involved I’d rather not have to fly out to Hong Kong, etc.
Has anyone found a way around this? Can I somehow convince them otherwise and have them extend my ARC? Or are the rules the rules?
FYI all 33 hours were spent outside the country for family (Christmas) or employment (job interview) reasons. I am married but I’m still waiting for my RCMP criminal record check to come through. Until then I can’t apply for a JFRV.
Any and all advice would be appreciated.
