Someone else asked for that and it won’t be easy. Seems like it’s special order as these days all TV-tuners are DVB-T only for Mac which makes them useless for connecting up to an external tuner box/cable TV. However, there are some “cheap” video capture cards, but as I haven’t seen the MOD box, I don’t know how it connects, but that might be an option, although I guess you’d be stuck with a fairly fugly UI or you’ll have to use some third party software. Mac’s seem to be a pain when it comes to using TV-tuners in general…
We were given MOD for a free trial last fall after upgrading my CHT modem. Content was pointless, HDTV was only about korean soaps or 9 ball pool (during the 12 minutes I actually watched it). We’ve ordered a movie which was supposed to be HD, and it sluggish, grainy and the audio was not good at all… I turned it off and never used it again and sat there for the rest of the 3 months trial. My wife was then able to give it back after moderate arguing with CHT.
I’m upset that I have to pay 89nt a month for it. Is there any way to get rid of the damn thing? I keep trying to give them a second chance but the performance is especially shit since I haven’t had it plugged in for a while. Kept trying to load, then stopped, then reloaded, blue screen blah blah blah.
The HD quality of the free ELTA sports channel is nice. Watched quite a bit of the Olympics there and I am looking forward to the next NBA game of my favorite team. Have watched some of the movies in their collection, not too bad. Watch the Australian and French channels from time to time and hope the German news will be back on soon, other than that MOD is not really offering that much, but I am sure the content will improve over time.
Maybe you have to pay extra for them. Remember they say there is a Golden Plan, a Special Plan, a Standard Plan… :loco:
So it could be that you haven’t told them you want to keep your Special Plan, not just Standard. It happened to me once.
Don’t think that’s it. I have subscribed Al Jazeera and DW channel, but DW doesn’t show, and Al Jazeera is just fine. Same goes for ELTA Sports and ELTA Korean soap opera, the Sports are gone and the Korean garbage is still there.

Just called their service line. They say it’s working normally. Chanel 83. Check the box, and they say if there are stil problems, then call CHT.
I have MOD for watching the AFL and rugby. The Australian Network also has some worthwhile language learning programs as well. Not sure how much value MOD is beyond that, though.
So now it seems MOD is having problems with… porn channels. They are using the stuff without paying copyright. :roflmao: :no-no:
The question of whether porn films should be subject to copyright protection hinges on the opinions of local courts rather than on the country’s Copyright Act per se, an intellectual property rights (IPR) official said Wednesday.
Wang Mei-hua, director-general of the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs, made the remarks after lawyers representing Japan's top eight porn companies urged Taiwan earlier that same day to protect their clients' copyrighted productions against pirating.
Lawyers retained by the Japanese producers of adult videos (AVs) said at a news conference that an increasing number of their productions are being sold on the local black market, aired on cable television channels in Taiwan and distributed by telecommunications service providers, causing huge revenue losses for the film makers and distributors.
…
In a copyright lawsuit brought by Japanese porn companies against Taiwanese pirates in 1999, the Supreme Court ruled that porn films are obscene material and are therefore not entitled to copyright protection.
Commenting on the issue, Wang said the Intellectual Property Office agrees with copyright scholars and experts that intellectual property should be given copyright protection as long as the material is original.
However, the decisions on the issue lie with the local courts, Wang stressed, noting that since the 1999 Supreme Court ruling, the lower courts have followed that lead in a number of subsequent cases.

From CNA
MOD is particularly singled out, but it affects other service providers like Far Eastone, etc.
However, it does raise the question: are these guys paying for all rights of broadcast in teh material used on MOD? :ohreally:
We recently signed up for its new channels: CNBC, BBC, Scifi, Hallmark, Universal, and DW… I think we also get Euronews, Al Jazz, Bloomberg, TV5, and a couple of others that we watch occasionally.
So we do have a ‘small’ selection of TV, but in the main, MOD TV is a huge underperformance of its potential: but that may be due to the local conditions.
The odd thing is that the local cable companies are playing catchup,…
