Hi All. I am soon travelling to Taiwan for 6 months. But, I’m having difficulty finding a place to exchange NZD to TWD. Anybody know a place in Auckland where I can do this?
Cardinal rule when changing into or out of TWD: Do it in Taiwan. You can do it at the foreign exchange banking kiosks in the airport when you get to Taiwan.
It’s hard to change NT dollars outside of Taiwan, and when you do you will lose a lot in fees charged. Not worth it.
The only other option I can think of is to find someone in NZ who has TWD, and do a private exchange. Maybe at a Chinese restaurant run by Taiwanese.
Auckland airport maybe but Chris is spot on. It’s difficult to buy Taiwan dollars outside Taiwan but you should be able to get them as soon as you enter Taiwan. I understand that you want to do it now while the kiwi dollar is favourable against the NT but hold off a bit.
