More expensive Thailand because I'm a foreinger

Hi,

Have been here for some time and thought I saw s lot…I guess there is always more to come.

Was just planning some New Year vacation with my TW gf. Were thinking Thailand or Bali for 5 days. The New Year prices were a little more expensive than we were hoping, so we decided to go for a group trip. NT$25000 in a nice hotel in Phuket. Went to sign up, and I am suddenly finding out that I have to pay NT$4K extra, because I do not hold a TW passport. I started complaining, and I hear that maybe if I looked like a Taiwanese we could avoid the extra charge. ???

Anybody with a similar experience? Is there a way around it? What is the actual regulation? Or maybe it is a normal thing and I am exaggerating?

Thanks for any advice.

Simon

Never heard of that. You should complain to whomever is in charge.

ha! that is the local company trying to get a few more $ out of you.

Thailand has no such requirement, charge, etc. Just pay the exit fee on the way out like everyone else…

This is easy to answer.
They “know” that the foreigner will jump ship, and not go on the mandatory sightseeings, dinners and shopping trips - where the organizer get his cut and big part of the profit from.

x3m has the answer.
