First there’s NY Republican Congressman Chris Lee, shown below soliciting sex on Craigs List.

In truth, I don’t know if he’s a family-value christian-type or not, but it’s an amusing story (except for his family).

Actually, my biggest question is – if you’re gonna lie about your job to some bimbo you just met online in the hopes of getting her into the sack, why they the hell would you tell her you’re a lobbyist??? Airline pilot, internet mogul, lion tamer, gigolo, sure, but lobbyist? Wouldn’t that be a guaranteed turn-off?

Whatever. I said I don’t know, but the NYT did report in the above article that, “In Congress, Mr. Lee had a reputation as a social conservative, opposing, for example, a recent measure signed into law that allowed gays to serve openly in the military.” And, I’m sure there will be many new cases of family-value preachers getting caught with their pants down with hookers in public restrooms in the foreseeable future. :slight_smile:

This is a sick article about an apparently sick guy, but this part made me laugh:

This is Bill O’Reilly’s reason that people fall? That they hold everyone else to such a high standard that they can’t keep their own house in order? Hmmm…maybe they should consider themselves first…

Let me offer an alternative explanation. Anyone who makes it a practice to go to gay events with a bullhorn is proclaiming to the whole world that they are sick in the fucking head. People who do such things go so far to try to detract attention from themselves saying those people are sick that it’s very obvious that it is THEY who are trying to cover up for their own sickness. It’s classic projection. I don’t know why the world hasn’t caught on yet. So, they next time you see some moron picketing a funeral with a GOD HATES FAGS sign or some idiot with a bullhorn preaching against debauchery, etc., WATCH THEM…they are the ones who are sick and trying to cover it up.

It just occurred to me that the whole reason the religious right wackos can’t help but talk about pedophilia when they talk about gay people is probably because they on some level obsessed with pedophilia or some related perversity that they are trying to cover up. Sick fuckers.

Oh boy, yet another hypocritical family-value Republican goes down in flames. From CNN:

Investigators are looking into efforts by Ensign to assist the Hampton family by providing a nearly $100,000 payment to them, arranging lobbying work for Doug Hampton, and possibly meeting with Doug Hampton on a lobbying matter in violation of Senate rules.

In February, the Senate ethics committee announced the appointment of a special counsel for the Ensign investigation. According to Ensign, the Justice Department has previously told him it would not bring criminal charges in the case.

“I am gratified that, after extended investigations, both the Department of Justice and the Federal Election Commission saw no grounds on which to charge me with improper conduct,” said Ensign’s statement Thursday. “I was hopeful that, with the closure of these investigations against me the wear and tear on my family and me would soon be over. This was not the case.”

Ensign, 53, was first elected to the Senate in 2000. He previously was a veterinarian and general manager of the Gold Strike Hotel and Casino.

After Ensign announced last month he would step down in 2012, two House members from Nevada, Republican Rep. Dean Heller and Democratic Rep. Shelley Berkley, declared they would run to succeed him.

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval, a Republican, is expected to appoint a replacement to serve the rest of Ensign’s term amid speculation that Heller would get the nod to give him an incumbent advantage in 2012.[/quote]

Blue Dogs? There’s hardly any left. Nearly all of the liberal Democrats kept their seats in 2010 (Alan Grayson being one of the few exceptions). It was the moderate Democrats, many of whom belonged to the Blue Dog Caucus, that were ousted. The same thing happened to the moderate Republicans back in 2006. The major difference between 2006 and 2010 is that rather than replace moderate with moderates, as in 2006, Tea Party candidates won many of the swing districts. So we’re left with highly partisan liberals and highly partisan conservatives who have little interest in cooperating with each other. Hello, gridlock.

But hey, this thread is about hypocritical Republicans professing family values and practicing the opposite. Let’s try and keep this on topic.

Not at all. It allows the Republican governor to appoint a Republican to the Senate who can then add that to his resume when he runs for re-election in 2012. If I understood correctly, the person expected to be appointed is a Representative, which allows the Republican governor to appoint a Republican to that position to hopefully throw water on Sharon Angle’s efforts to get that spot.

But I’m caffeined-up right now and may be misreading or misremembering the facts.

EDIT: I was incorrect about the Representative seat . That will be filled by a special election, for which Sharon Angle is expected to run.
