I was born and raised in British Columbia. It is beyond a doubt easier to buy booze in Salt Lake City than it is in Vancouver.
Ummm?
The Mormons are celebrating their 200th anniversary as a religious cult this year, 2005, with wonderful PR media press worldwide. The Los Angeles Times (Google) just ran a very positive story about them and their first leader Mr Smith.
Seems that they are here to stay, no matter how silly their beliefs might be (or how nefarious some of their recruitment methods of young Taiwanese Mormon-wannabees is).
But then again, if we call the Mormoni people a cult, we gotta do the same for all religious people worldwide, since they are all cults, in the end. The Moslems are a cult, the Jews are a cult, and the Christians are a huge cult. Same with Hindus and Buddhists and Shintoists.
We still live in the dark ages of humankind, where superstitious beliefs hold sway. Things will never change. Get used to it. Our Mormon neighbors are here to stay, 200 and counting. (And they are gaining in NUMBers every year, even in Taiwan…)
Go figure. Then again, don’t.
This thread has gone into the "really weird’ zone. :loco:
TaiwanCowby, we are the weird, don’t you remember?
Contrary to what you saw in the pics, the religious underclothing does not put symbols in the shape of a pentagram. The symbols are really quite subtle.
Tomas has done a good job of relating the facts.
