Most annoying behaviour(s) on MRT and commuter trains

Is this thread still about MRT?

I tried explaining this to my lady. She didnā€™t get it.

Itā€™s pervasive though. Like when youā€™re standing on the platform, no one in sight and then someone walks by close enough to brush up against you. I mean wtf.

Maybe they just like/are used to being close to everybody else. Like safety in numbers.

You can establish dominance by dropping your pants to your knees while taking the piss. Nobody will dare to come close. :joy:

Guy

I take the MRT every day at rush hour (morning and evening) and I swear itā€™s turning me into a more bitter person. Ha.

People donā€™t pay attention/donā€™t care about ā€œthe rules.ā€ My biggest pet peeve is when thereā€™s a loooooong line to get on the MRT or escalator, and people just pass by the whole line and get on in front of everyone.

My favorite thing is when someone is brave enough to scold them and force them to go to the end of the line. It doesnā€™t happen often enough.

Just take the escalators at either end of the platform. For some weird reason people avoid those (but crowds up every other escalator).

I once saw a station cleaner do that! Everyone was lining up for the escalator, and a 70-something obasan who had a cleaner vest on promptly cut in front of everyone. It wouldā€™ve been OK if she had proceeded to walk up on the left side, but she just parked herself on the right side without a care. As for boarding the train, some car doors let you line up on just one side of the door, and invariably youā€™ll see people board from the side youā€™re not supposed to line up when the doors open. Yep, very annoying!

Because they need to walk more.
What they donā€™t notice is that instead of walking more at the platform level, they will do it anyway to reach the exit after coming out of the escalatorā€¦ :wall:

I would, but Iā€™d rather not make a scene and end up in Apple Daily in some dramatic story about being a jerk foreigner or whatever haha.

Itā€™s often difficult to see which side is for entering and which is for exiting when you are on the MRT, thereā€™s no consistency.

Last week I saw a member of station staff escort a blind passenger, walked straight past the queue (fair enough I suppose) and proceeded to try and push onto the train against the flow of people exiting when the doors opened, blind guy was obviously somewhat traumatized as he had no real idea of what was going on so let go of the station guy who then gripped his arm and was trying to pull him onto the carriage.

My biggest MRT gripe is boarding the train, 2 friends having a conversation and stopping half on half off or gawping at a phone doing the same, get the urge to push them on with a very loud ē§»å‹•
Big rush to exit train take your time boarding seems to be the norm.

Oh boy please never drive on the highway here if you think the MRT is bad for that.

I used to be able to read a newspaper on the MRT. Times change. :sunglasses:

I donā€™t plan on it haha. I know traffic on the roads is even worse.

In the summer they barely use the AC on the mrt trains but now the weather is cooler they make the train colder than outside. What gives?

Yep, some days the MRT and local trains are like the frozen foods section. I donā€™t feel like bringing a coat with me to take public transport.
